Animations and VRML

Clear, attractive, interactive and low bandwidth, - ideal for presentations and advertisements, live or online. We can create animations based on story boards, scientific and technical papers, equipment documentation, or your ideas jotted on the back of an envelope. The only limit is your imagination!

This was designed for full screen display, and projection, running off the hard drive of a local computer. The resolution of the photograph used has been greatly reduced to permit the movie to be streamed online here!

We can produce animated logos, advertising banners and 'featurettes' for courses, conferences and other events, quickly and inexpensively. The advertisement for an option course at Sheffield University (above) and the Polymer Centre logo (below) are examples of this work.

Research papers make great subjects for animations. These can be used at conferences, in lectures, or online. We prepared this one on clean catalysts for a presentation at the 2001 British Association for the Advancement of Science (BAAS) meeting.

Presentations

The following presentations use HTML to encapsulate interactive materials, such as FLASH and VRML. This alows presenters and online course designers escape from the extremely low bandwidth available through PowerPoint presentations. The presentations are on the topic of marine archaeological site formation, and are provided here with additional text and thumbnail scaled images to assist comprehension:

• "Monitoring the Kinlochbervie Historic Wrecksite" presented at the NAS Portsmouth annual conference (November 2003, invited lecture).
• "A Look at Marine Archaeology", presented to the Marine Conservation Society at Lancaster. (February 2004, invited lecture).

NOTE: you will need a 3D environment (VRML) plugin in your browser to view the VRML landscapes in these talks. You can download one free from Cortona. Troubleshooting notes are provided with the Thesis VRML model on this site.

Over the years we have carried out many commissions for the Polymer Centre (www.polymercentre.org.uk). One of these covers the subject of Chemical Force Microscopy, a new method of probing surface characteristics.

We have the scientific background to work directly from publications but remain in close consultation with you, the author, to make sure we get things exactly right. The process is very quick - we will Email test movies to you, to refine things so that they are exactly as you want them.
